The Official definition
According to Skipping Rope in Wikipedia Double unders are when the participant jumps higher than usual while swinging the rope twice under their feet. It is possible to have the rope swing three times under the feet (triple under). In competitive jump rope, triples, quadruples (“quads”), and quintuples (“quins”) are performed.
Why we love DUs!
They get more work done in less time and with a greater intensity!
A higher intensity workout equals better fitness and better fitness equals better results! Easy!
Here are a couple of helpful tips to master DUs
Hands in front of torso
Hands rotate from wrist. It’s all in the wrists. No giant windmill arms!
Good up and down bounce
Jump when rope is about to hit the ground
Start out jumping higher than you need to and get a feel for what it takes to swing the rope twice under you.
Practice linked singles first then alternating single and double unders, and then linked double unders
The key is coordinated and some good old fashioned practise so let’s all get stuck in!
